During the United Nation’s 65th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65) SheWorks! founder and CEO Silvina Moschini shared her insights into gender equality in technology, and how to help female entrepreneurs succeed alongside influential leaders from academia, governments and NGOs.
This year the theme of CSW65 revolved around women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life. The panel Championing Women Leadership in Tech panel focused specifically on tech, because women are increasingly rising through the ranks in public and political life and yet in the technology sector women leaders are not as visible and progress is much slower.
Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women opened the event and highlighted the importance of addressing the gender gap in technology.
Silvina spoke alongside female leaders such as Julie Linn Teigland from EY, and Doreen Bogdan-Martin from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and Dr. Curt Rice, Rector, Oslo Metropolitan University, and Amb. Alicia Buenrostro Massieu, Ambassador, Permanent Alternative Representative of Mexico to the United Nations.
Her commitment to empower women and present them with career opportunities anywhere in the world by optimizing the use of technology is what drives TransparentBusiness and SheWorks! forward. Her expert commentary addressed the importance of providing women with job opportunities, investing in their projects, and creating a strong community to help them succeed in the tech and business world.
Increasing women’s participation in the tech industry can bridge the gender gap and unleash female leadership across the board. Remote work is a clear path towards this as it enables women to pursue job opportunities around the world rather than in their direct surroundings. For companies, it means broad access to female talent around the world- without restrictions of time and space.
The discussion was inspiring and compelling. Thank you to all of our speakers for addressing one of the most pressing issues regarding gender equality and for all the work that you do to elevate the narrative and change the reality for women around the world.
